Moonrise, 2024

Photographing the moon is often seen as simple—some say all you need is a small telescope. But I wanted to elevate this timeless subject into something extraordinary. This image is the result of a months-long project, waiting patiently for clear skies and the perfect alignment.

The interplay between light and shadow on the moon is fascinating. What appears as the “dark” side isn’t truly dark—it’s illuminated by sunlight reflected off the Earth, while the bright side is where the sunlight directly hits. Capturing this subtle balance required precise composition, exposure, and stacking techniques to bring out the moon’s raw glow, texture, and mystery.

The moon has always been an intimate subject for me. As the namesake of my studio, "Moonrise," it’s present in many of my works. But this photo—so nude and vulnerable—feels both approachable and distant. It’s a quiet invitation to connect with the moon in its most serene form.

Fine art print – Museum-quality paper, printed with archival ink, crafted to last a lifetime.
